Comtrend 3112To change the WiFi information on your Comtrend 3112 you will need an Internet connection (preferred Ethernet) between your device (i.e. laptop) and the Comtrend 3112.

Change WiFi password

  1. Open a web browser (Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc.)
  2. In the address bar, Type: 192.168.42.1
  3. Enter Username: admin
  4. Enter Password: Comtrend
  5. Click Enter (On Screen)
  6. Click Advanced Setup
  7. Click the Wireless
  8. Select Security
  9. Scroll down to WPA/WAPI passphrase:
  10. Change the Passphrase to the password (passphrase) you would like it to be
  11. Click Apply/Save to save your changes
  12. Ensure WiFi is enabled on your WiFi device(s) and then connect to the network with the name and password created in the previous steps to make sure it works.

Change your WiFi Network name (SSID)

  1. Open a web browser (Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc.)
  2. In the address bar, Type: 192.168.42.1
  3. Enter Username: admin
  4. Enter Password: Comtrend
  5. Click Advanced Setup
  6. Click Wireless
  7. Scroll down to SSID: Change the SSID to the name you would like it to be (the password will be the same password as it was previously, to change the password do action listed above)
  8. Click Apply/Save to save your changes
  9. Ensure WiFi is enabled on your WiFi device(s) and then connect to the network with the name and password created in the previous steps to make sure it works.

Add Parental Controls

    >Open a web browser (Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc.)
  1. In the address bar, Type: 192.168.42.1
  2. Enter Username: admin
  3. Enter Password: Comtrend
  4. Parental Control- 3 choices: WiFi guest account, Access Time Restriction, URL Filter
    • WiFi guest account
  5. Click Basic Setup
  6. Click on Wireless
  7. Enable the first guest account and name it Guest
  8. Click Apply/Save
  9. Select Security
  10. Scroll down to Select SSID
  11. Click on drop down arrow and Select Guest
  12. Go to Network Authentication, Select Mixed WPA2/WPA-PSK
  13. Go to WPA/WAPI passphrase: (Enter the password you want to use)
  14. Click Apply/Save
    • Access Time Restriction
      This page adds time of day restriction to a special LAN device connected to the Router. The ‘Browser’s MAC Address’ automatically displays the MAC address of the LAN device where the browser is running. To restrict other LAN device, click the “Other MAC Address” button and enter the MAC address of the other LAN device. To find out the MAC address of a Windows based PC, go to command window and type “ipconfig /all”.
  15. Select Basic Setup
  16. Select Parental Control
  17. Select Add
  18. Assign a User Name (you create: so you can associate the restriction with the User Name)
  19. Go to Browser’s MAC Address: Enter the MAC address of the device you want to enforce
  20. Click to select the days of the week you want to allow access
  21. Select the time in military time
  22. Enter Start Blocking Time (hh:mm) __: __
  23. Enter End Blocking Time (hh:mm)  __: __
  24. Click Apply/Save
    • Parental Control — URL Filter Add
      Enter the URL address and port number then click “Apply/Save” to add the entry to the URL filter.
  25. Select URL Filter
  26. Select Type of List: Exclude or Include
  27. Select Add
  28. Add the URL address
    • Port number (default is port 80)
  29. Click Apply/Save

Disabling/Enable WiFi

  2. In the address bar, Type: 192.168.42.1
  3. Enter Username: admin

To Disable WiFi

  1. Click Basic Setup
  2. Click on Wireless
  3. Uncheck Enable Wireless
  4. Click Apply/Save

To Enable WiFi

  1. Click Basic Setup
  2. Click on Wireless
  3. Check Enable Wireless
  4. Click Apply/Save
